Founder, Ideas Genius & Unedited. Chair, AudioUK.

Bernard P. Achampong is a London-based media entrepreneur and the founder of Ideas Genius, the studio built to give every project it develops a life and identity of its own. Unedited, the production company behind podcasts, radio and documentaries for the BBC, Spotify, Amazon, Acast and talkSPORT, among others, is Ideas Genius’s most successful project to date.
Bernard has personally produced work including Sounds of Black Britain for Spotify, BBC Sounds’ 11Xtra Throwback Party, the documentary HRH The Prince of Wales: Building Bridges, and CBBC’s Skin Deep, his first children’s television commission, exploring identity for boys aged seven to eleven. He delivered Spotify’s Sound Up programme for the UK and Ireland for three years running.
One longtime collaborator called him “an ideas genius” following a creative meeting when Bernard was put on the spot to come up with new ideas. He delivered eight. Three were used. One was an award-winning programme.
He’s currently Chair of AudioUK, the trade body for the UK’s independent audio industry, and a Fellow of the Radio Academy, an eight-time Radio Academy Award winner, and a Rose d’Or nominee. He’s a former board member of Creative UK, and was Programme Director at Premier Christian Radio from 2018 to 2020.
In 2023, he launched Pilot Season. This annual campaign pairs original creator-led audio concepts with the commissioners and sponsors who can take them further — work that included the Facts That Matter podcast, which contributed to Gary Younge’s Orwell Prize for Journalism that same year.
